Government, First Nations,and the private sector can work together to protect the Heart of the Fraser from unchecked development. Key private lands can be purchased for conservation purposes. Governments can help to protect and manage key crown lands. This project has had a number of advasnces since its inception in 2005. The Nature Trust has continued to acquire key lands along this section of the Fraser and Dr. Marvin Rosenau of the BC Institute of Technology published an analysis in 2016 entitled Saving the Heart of the Fraser: Addressing Human Impacts to the Aquatic Ecosystem of the Fraser River, Hope to Mission, BC.
